Hoof Happy began with a simple idea from Chef Coco: create a plant-based rib that still had soul. After becoming vegan, she realized how often people felt left out at the table: vegans, non-vegans, and anyone navigating allergies or dietary choices. She wanted something nostalgic, satisfying, and inclusive, a dish everyone could share. So she set out to reimagine comfort food through a kinder lens. Rooted in her Puerto Rican heritage, her love for culture, and her passion for bringing people together, Chef Coco created a handcrafted rib recipe that became the foundation of what Hoof Happy is today.

As the brand grew, we wanted our mission to be represented by a real animal with a real story. We wanted a face that would remind people why kinder choices matter. That is when we discovered Spuds.
Spuds escaped from a factory farm as a baby piglet and survived three weeks alone in the Santa Cruz Mountains before being rescued by Sweet Farm. Today, she lives safely with her best friend Ziggy and a group of other rescued pigs. Her story is one of resilience, healing, and hope.
Spuds became the heart of our mission because she represents every animal who deserves a safe and joyful life. By choosing plant-based options like Hoof Happy, you help create a world where more animals like Spuds can live free from harm.
